Ginger Snaps or Perfect Gingerbread People

This is the recipe I use to make the little gingerbread men I used to give out a Christmas. Note the "used to" with a toddler I just don't have the time anymore. So enjoy making your own.

adapted from The Best of The Best of Bridge Series.
¾ cup butter or margarine
¾ c white sugar
¼ cup black strap molasses
1 egg, beaten
2 cups flour
¼ tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
1-2 tsp cinnamon
1-2 tsp ground cloves
1-2 tsp ground ginger

Cream together butter and sugar. Add molasses and egg. Beat together. Combine flour, salt, baking powder and spices. Add to creamed mixture and mix well. Divide dough into 4 balls. Roll out about ½ cm think, and cut into shapes. Bake at 325 C for between 4 – 10 minutes, until firm.
